About the National Summit

At this year's National Summit we're striving to 'shift the gaze' and rebalance the nation.

Our line-up of nation-shaping speakers will inspire and challenge the country to elevate the positioning and profile of regional Australia.

Regional Australia is experiencing change like never before and is now writing a new story of optimism. More people are making a life outside our capital cities, and many more want to.

The RAI commissioned market research in May 2023 and found one in five people (or 3.5 million) want to leave the cities behind. Now is the time to seriously start thinking long term about what our nation will look like, where our citizens will live and how we might best support the societal transformation on our doorstep.

Through a regional lens, the RAI Regions Rising National Summit - Shifting our Gaze - will address big national issues including:

- Population movement and migration
- Inclusivity and diversity
- Energy transition and a reduced emissions future
- Skills of the future and a fluid job market
- Housing and health
- National productivity growth

The agenda will advance the unification of our nation.

Regional Australia will be leading the transition our nation needs to make, so it’s more important than ever that decision makers at every level understand the opportunities and lean into a wholistic strategy that rebalances the nation.
